Purpose

“Regeneration & Progress” is a civil non-profit-making organization which designs and implements, free of charge, a series of actions in the fields of Health, Sports and Education, with the exclusive financial support of Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

The main actions of “Regeneration & Progress” since 2014, when it became vigorously active, are the following:

  • Mobile Medical Units:This is an innovative Primary Health Care programme which aims at providing residents of remote islands with equal opportunities of access to high-quality health services.
  • Sports Excellence Sports Excellence of the 1st Orthopedic Clinic of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens implements a series of actions in the fields of Health, Education and Sports with the exclusive financial support of  Stavros Niarchos Foundation . The actions aim at the ongoing support and evolution of young elite sport athletes as well as at the lifelong scientific advancement of those around them (coaches, parents, administrative and training staff). Among others, it designs and implements elite programmes for all, such as “Sports Paths”, which takes place on hard-to-reach islands, and “Therapeutic Exercise”,  which is targeted at vulnerable groups and the elderly. Moreover, it has added to its potential the programme “Sports for All” for pupils and teachers in special needs education, as well as the West Attica Project which aims at prevention and health promotion for pupils of West Attica primary schools. Finally, it carries out, at the Park of Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), a large number of activities that are targeted at the general public.
  • SNFestival: Regeneration & Progress designs, organizes and implements the public road night race SNF RUN of Stavros Niarchos Foundation. Moreover, it carries out a large number of sports activities and games for children and adults as part of the annual Summer Nostos Festival (SNFestival) at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.
  • Educational programmes are related to:
    Treatment of multi-injured patients (ATLS for medical students, ATCN for nurses,  PHTLS for rescuers).
    Management of rupturing trauma through surgical skills learning programmes for medical students.
    Surgical anatomy seminars for orthopedics in training.

Vision

Our vision is to contribute to prevention and health promotion by upgrading quality of life and by providing free access to integrated services. We attach particular importance to information and education with an emphasis on innovation and on a holistic approach to things.

Acting with a deep sense of responsibility, we consistently listen attentively to the needs of society and develop programmes and actions to meet such needs, putting scientific knowledge in the fields of sports and medicine at the service of charity.
